Privacy Policy

We collect as little as possible, we never sell your data, and here — in plain language — is exactly what that means.

Last updated: 1 July 2026

Overview

The Review NYU ("we", "us", or "our") is an independent publication that reviews AI tools and the modern AI world. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit thereviewatnyu.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We designed the Site to work with the minimum amount of personal data — there are no accounts and no logins.

Information We Collect

We keep data collection deliberately minimal:

  • Basic, anonymized analytics. Aggregated, non-identifying information such as which pages are visited, approximate region, browser type, and referring source, so we can understand what readers find useful.
  • Information you send us voluntarily. If you use our contact form or email us, we receive the name, email address, and message you choose to provide.

We do not ask for, or intentionally collect, sensitive personal information, and we do not require you to create an account to read the Site.

How We Use Information

We use the limited information above to:

  • Operate, maintain, and improve the Site and its content.
  • Understand which reviews and topics are helpful to readers.
  • Respond to your questions, tips, and correction requests.
  • Protect the Site against abuse and technical problems.

Cookies & Analytics

The Site may use a small number of cookies or similar technologies, primarily to support privacy-conscious, aggregated analytics. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; blocking them will not stop you from reading the Site. We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles about you.

Affiliate Links

Some links on the Site are affiliate links. If you click one and sign up or buy something, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you, and the third party may set its own cookies once you leave our Site. Those third-party cookies are governed by that party's privacy policy, not ours.

Third-Party Services

We rely on a small number of third-party providers — for example, our web host, content-delivery, and analytics services — to run the Site. These providers may process limited technical data (such as IP addresses) on our behalf and are expected to handle it under their own privacy and security obligations. When you follow a link to an external AI tool or website, that destination's privacy practices apply.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data, and we never have. We do not trade or rent your information. We only share data with the service providers described above to operate the Site, or where we are legally required to do so.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights over your personal data. Because we serve readers across the EU (including our German, Spanish, and Italian editions), we honor rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), and we extend comparable choices under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). These may include the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Request correction or deletion of that data.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@thereviewatnyu.com. We will not discriminate against you for making a request.

Data Retention

We keep the information you send us only for as long as needed to respond to you and keep a reasonable record of correspondence, and we keep analytics data in aggregated form. When information is no longer needed, we delete or anonymize it.

Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for a general, adult audience and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

International Readers

The Review NYU is read around the world, and our service providers may process data in countries other than yours. Wherever your data is processed, we take reasonable steps to protect it consistent with this policy and applicable law.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be reflected on this page, and your continued use of the Site means you accept the updated policy.
